Racism and the Coulee Region – A Community Dialogue Series

July 14, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CDT

The Franciscan Spirituality Center is hosting a series of zoom dialogues with local activists, speakers, and artists to explore issues related to race and racism.  The first one will be a conversation with Creating a Healthier Multicultural Community facilitator Keonte Turner.

Keonte is the founder of RISE Youth Group, treasurer and representative on the School District of La Crosse Board of Education, and a member of B.L.A.C.K. (Black Leaders Acquiring Collective Knowledge). He serves as a mentor to the children in the city of La Crosse, and one of his main focuses is the empowerment and uplifting of those of the black and brown hue. “I am a steadfast, bold advocate in making La Crosse the best city it can be for ALL people, not just a few.” Keonte has traveled throughout the Midwest sharing his story of resiliency and growing up in a paradigm of whiteness and systemic racism. He is also a columnist for The La Crosse Independent.
