First Lutheran School in La Crosse is hosting a cancer fundraiser January 20th as part of their parents night at 520 West Avenue S. There will be boys and girls basketball games, a Pulled Pork Sandwich Dinner, Bake Sale, Tumbler Sale, and Concessions to support the following cancer fundraiser:

Brooke Schmaltz was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February of 2017. She will be in cancer treatment for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, not all treatment options are covered by insurance. Brooke has 2 sons, Malachi (11) and Declan (8). Her husband Chad is on Church Council and Education Committee. Brooke helps out with hot lunch and has served on FFL (school’s PTO) for 5 years.

Lisa Evans was diagnosed with stage 4 head cancer back in 2007. She has gone through many surgeries from treatment side effects and thankfully was in remission until August of 2022. The cancer has now metastasized to another area in her head and lungs. She will be fighting cancer for the rest of her life. She recently married Adam Evans who is in the Army Reserve and a wonderful step father to her twin 14 year old boys, Caleb and Cainan. Lisa has helped in many areas at Frist Lutheran School, including Aftercare and serving hot lunch. Lisa will be traveling to Rochester, MN for her treatments and on going care.
