HOPE RESTORES – SEASON OF GIVING
Written by Ballzer on December 2, 2024
Hope Restores bridges the gap between the African American community and local services, using a cultural approach that helps clients feel comfortable and not judged. They have a lot of services that meet the specific needs of African Americans in Western Wisconsin as well as numerous programs and groups promoting healing and connection.
Co-Founder Shy Jackson joined the Z93 Morning Buzz to talk about how they support our community, how they’re recovering from a major setback recently, and how the community can help:
Thanks to Dairyland Power Cooperative and Your Local Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, we were able to donate $500 to Hope Restores!
If you’re able to help “Restore Hope,” they have set up a Zeffy fundraiser set up HERE!
Hope Restores’s third annual “Adopt A Teen” and “Adopt a Family” Christmas programs are also still seeking donors. They have a goal of “adopting” 100 teens and 25 families this holiday season and YOU can make this possible. Head to their website for more information HERE, sign up to adopt a family HERE, or adopt a teen HERE!
Don’t miss their Hip-Hop Santa event with Black Student Leaders this Saturday, December 7th! All are welcome to enjoy a warm breakfast, music, dancing, gifts, and a good time. Wear your hip-hop Christmas gear and get ready to dance your pancakes off.
Join Hope Restores this summer as they team up with Enduring Families Project, B.L.A.C.K., and Black Student Leaders to bring back a piece of History! The August Ball commemorates August 1, 1887, Emancipation Day celebrating the liberation of enslaved people, first in the Caribbean, and then eventually the end of slavery in this country. This Ball was also celebrated in 1887 by the La Crosse Community.
You can find more information on the great work that Hope Restores does for our community and reach out for resources on their website, Facebook page, and TikTok.
