Milwaukee Man Has Eaten Fish Fry For Over 500 Consecutive Fridays

In case you missed it. Governor Tony Evers officially declared February 16th “Friday Fish Fry day”. It helps that day was the first Friday of Lent.
Friday fish (paired with a light beer or Brandy Old Fashioned) is an institution in our fair state. And no one takes it more seriously than Caleb Westphal of Milwaukee.
Caleb explained that ever since 2014, he’s had fish fry every Friday and claims it’s at least 528 times. He explained to WTMJ-TV that it hasn’t always been easy.
There were times he had to resort to making his own fish dinner to keep the streak alive. “One time I tried it (fishing) in Humboldt Park in Bay View,” he recalled. “And I caught a goldfish and 10 other types of fish that were not keepable and then I just gave up. I had some frozen fish in the freezer and I just used that. Always have reserves in your freezer, that’s important!”
Along with the fun of “Friday Fish Fry Day” having an official day in the state of Wisconsin, a partnership with Feeding America allows fish fry enthusiasts to donate to fight food insecurity during the Lenten season.
