20 Oktoberfest celebrations across the country have been nominated in the 10Best “Reader’s Choice” poll and two Wisconsin cities made the list.
Milwaukee’s celebration is described as:
Milwaukee embraces the Oktoberfest spirit for one October weekend at Cathedral Square in the heart of downtown. The free event kicks off with a ceremonial keg tapping, followed by brat eating and stein hoisting contests, a wiener dog pageant, polka music, and German food from Kegel’s Inn.
They’re currently ranked 16th in the voting. And La Crosse? Sitting at number 11. La Crosse’s festivities are described as:
German heritage is celebrated in style each October at the annual Oktoberfest USA in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Craft beer, German food, parades, and live music provide lots to enjoy. A well-attended Craft Beer Night kicks off the popular festival, which draws festivalgoers from around the country.
Of course, it’s hard to describe the magic of Fest in just a blurb, but it gets the idea across. But most importantly, we’ve got to get some votes in! You can vote here.
And I guess we can mention at New Ulm, Minnesota’s Oktoberfest celebration is in the running too. They’re currently at #5. Good for them. I guess.
