Since 1949, Winona’s “Penguin Zesto” has been an institution. And now, the location is up for sale.
Rich Drazkowski has owned the spot since 1997 and says he’s ready to retire and looking for new owners to take over operation. Zesto was a national franchise back in the 1940’s has still has several locations operating across the country.
The “Penguin” is unique because according to Drazkowski, the owner back in the 80’s really just liked penguins. “Who doesn’t like penguins?’, he told Bring Me The News.
Another fun tidbit is that their signature ice cream is imported for makers in Italy. Penguin Zesto typically runs seasonally from early March to late September.
