Stolen Velociraptor Statue In South Dakota Leads To Arrests

On Friday, a security officer at the South Dakota Arts and Science spotted 3 individuals carrying a statue of a Velociraptor and notified authorities.
Thanks to the help of surveillance footage, detectives tracked the perpetrators to a nearby apartment where they clearly saw the statue inside. Three suspects aged 18, 19 and one juvenile were taken into custody.
According to CBS News:
“Fortunately, the statue was not damaged,” stated Madelyn Grogan, the Pavilion’s director of education, programming and exhibits, in an email Friday.
Now, they haven’t mentioned what the motivation was towards stealing the dinosaur statue. (Perhaps being in their late teens living in South Dakota may have something to do with it).
But a question that pops into my mind is not “why?’ but what in the world are you going to do with a dinosaur statue that you stole from a prominent museum? Unless you want the stress of someone turning you in immediately.
