JERRY SPRINGER DIES AT 79, HEAR OUR CHAT WITH HIM ABOUT HIS SHOW, HEAVEN, AND MORE
Written by Ballzer on April 27, 2023
Jerry Springer was incredibly successful in numerous different efforts in his 79 years. He passed away this week at his home outside of Chicago. Jerry was a lawyer, mayor of Cincinnati, a TV anchor, host of the wildly successful Jerry Springer show, and then Judge Jerry.
In February of 2016, we had a chance to interview Jerry. He was so sweet, and funny, as he prepared to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Jerry Springer show. We chatted about the beginning of the show, how it evolved, and how his “Final Thought” would be what gets him into heaven:
This interview was definitely not the most famous person we have ever spoken with, but it’s the most memorable for a lot of our listeners. I still have people talk about being late to work that morning because they didn’t want to get out of the car and miss the interview.
“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesperson for the family, told ABC.
Thanks for the memories, Jer.
