The new movie about the Antetokounmpo family, centering around Giannis and his brothers, three young Nigerian-Greek brothers, who emigrate to the United States and rise to fame and success in the NBA. All three are NBA champs, Giannis and Thanasis with the Bucks last year and their brother, Kostas, with the Lakers the year before. Their youngest brother, Alexandros, moved to Milwaukee in 6th grade and now plays in the NBA’s G league.
The film, streaming on Disney+ June 24th, is about the family emigrating from Nigeria to Greece, their struggles to survive and become citizens, and how basketball changed everything for the family. Disney says the movie is a story about”how one family’s vision, determination and faith lifted them out of obscurity to launch the career of three NBA champions.”
