GLORIA ESTEFAN TO STAR IN ‘FATHER OF THE BRIDE’ REBOOT

I loved ‘The Father of the Bride’ movie with Steve Martin and Diane Keaton from 1991, but now there’s a reboot coming and it’s 100% Cuban-American!

HBO Max dropped a trailer for ‘Father of the Bride’ and Andy García is taking on the dad role while Gloria Estefan plays the mom. The plot centers on a Cuban-American family and is directed by Mexican director, Gary Alazraki. García told Entertainment Weekly, “There was both an honor and an obligation to deliver a story that’s within the Latin cultures, in this case, the Cuban and the Mexican, trying to relate to one another.” Gloria Estefan said, “There’s an obligation to do it right, represent it without stereotypes, in a way that, although it’s culturally specific, its themes are universal.”

The new “Father of the Bride” premieres on HBO Max on June 16, 2022.
