Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees Announced, Rock Music Fans React
Written by Jesse on February 3, 2022
Nominees for the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced yesterday.
There are seven FIRST-TIME nominees . . . Carly Simon . . . Dolly Parton . . . Duran Duran . . . Beck . . . Lionel Richie . . . A Tribe Called Quest . . . and Eminem
To be eligible for a nomination, you’d have to have an album released in 1996 or before. There’s certainly some interesting additions to this list. But what’s really interesting is rock fans willingness to complain about why some of these acts were included and why some of their favorites weren’t. Because, in my humble opinion, they’re nerds. Plain and simple.
“DoLlY PaRtOn AiN’T RoCk AnD RoLl!”
“WhY iS EmInEm ThEre AnD WhY IsN’T (insert band here)??”
See, rock and roll is so much more than just a genre of music. It’s about cultural impact and it’s about an attitude. Just because music isn’t created with guitars and bass and drums, doesn’t exclude it from calling it rock and roll. So if you see this list of artists and you’re mad because it’s not “Real RAWWWKKK”, here’s some advice:
Stay mad.
The rest of us will embrace cool music for what it is.
