CELEBRATING BETTY WHITE’S 100TH BIRTHDAY
Written by Ballzer on January 17, 2022
The final day of 2021 gave us one last blow to our hearts with the death of Betty White. She passed a few weeks short of her 100th birthday and plans were underway for the celebration, and more have been added since we lost her.
The Betty White Challenge is already in full effect today. Betty was a huge animal rights advocate who worked for years with non-profits to help make the world better for animals. The #BettyWhiteChallenge encourages fans to donate $5 to your favorite animal organization. Today will raise a ton of money for animal shelters, rescues, animal rights agencies, and more.
Betty White: A Celebration shows in theaters today. Originally titled, Betty White: 100 Years Young, the film was announced before her death and features some of Betty’s best clips, her final interview, and videos from friends who loved her. Ryan Reynolds, Carol Burnett, Valerie Bettinelli, Jennifer Love Hewitt—and dozens of other celebrity friends will share tributes to this beloved icon. The Fathom Events site lists 3 show times today but Marcus Cinema La Crosse has 7 times available. Here’s the trailer:
Google‘s main Doodle is celebrating MLK Day, which you can do locally HERE, but they also has an Easter Egg when you search “Betty White” on the service. Rose petals fall and a graphic saying “Thank You For Being A Friend” appears.
Later this month, NBC will air an hour special, Celebrating Betty White: America’s Golden Girl. It will air Monday, January 31 at 9 central on NBC and will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
