Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi” Hitting The Big Screen?

Alright millennials, get ready to feel old. The song “Sk8er Boi”, the breakout hit from Avril Lavigne is turning 20 this year. I know. It upset me too.

In a recent podcast interview, Avril announced that the iconic record is in the works to become a movie.

According to Uproxx-

“Recently with it being almost the 20th anniversary, a lot of people have been asking me to play [‘Sk8er Boi’] on some TV shows, so it keeps getting brought back up and people will always reference it to me. And so, I’m actually going to turn this song into a film… and take it to the next level.”

And really, it couldn’t come at a better time considering the “mall pop punk” sound is coming back in a big way. When you listen to “Sk8er Boi”, the whole theme of the song is a classic, teen movie plot so it really is a recipe for success.
