When You Pickup a Takeout Order, Do You Still Tip?

It’s almost assumed that when you get food delivered to your home or served to you, you tip, right? But what’s the protocol when you pickup your takeout order? Do you even still tip?

A poll from YouGov America asked this very question and found that about 67 percent of people asked still tip when they carryout from a restaurant.

It also found that people tend to tip about 10-15 percent of their bill while picking up their carryout.

Personally, when I order takeout, I’m always tipping about the usual 20 percent. Restaurants and folks in the service industry have been hit so hard over the last 18 months, I feel like it’s still a service they’re providing so I don’t deviate from the norm too much.
