HAPPY PRIDE! THE CENTER: 7 RIVERS LGBTQ CONNECTION’S PROGRAMS AND THIS FALL’S PRIDE EVENTS
Written by Ballzer on June 23, 2021
ICYMI, June is Pride Month. This Monday is the 52nd anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the event that transformed the gay rights movement and lead to the beginning of Pride Month.
Since 2004, The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection has been working on behalf of the LGBTQ community to develop and expand understanding of human sexuality, gender identity and the need for equal treatment.
We caught up with Alesha, the Executive Director of The Center, to find out what programs they’re offering right now and what the plans are for La Crosse Pride in September.
The offices are currently closed but they hope to be open again this summer. Their Clothing Closet is open Saturdays, from noon to 4, open to all members of the community, not just LGBTQ persons. Several of The Center’s support groups meet online still, including their youth groups, transgender support, parent, and lesbian groups.

Mark your calendars for September 11 for Pride in the Park and September 17 for So You Think You Can Drag?
If you’re newly out, or just questioning, The Center just launched a new group!
