CATTLE, GOLF, SPICY FOOD, & MORE: MY TRIP TO TEXAS!
Written by Ballzer on March 16, 2021
I finally had a reason to go to Texas, and it was fantastic!
Friends of mine just moved there, so my husband and I went on a long weekend trip. We were in Fort Worth and North Dallas, mostly. It was hard to decide what to do because there is so much to experience. We also felt safe. On the plane and in the airports masks were required and although Texas had just recently lifted their mask mandate, a lot of businesses were encouraging people to wear masks. We were outside most of the time, so social distancing was easy to do. We felt very safe traveling and we’re so happy we went! It felt “normal”.
We went to the Stockyards in Fort Worth, which is a must see! Lots of shops and restaurants, and every day at 11:30am and 4pm they do the cattle drive. That was pretty cool!
We also went to a delicious restaurant and brewery called Windmills, in the Colony. Delicious food, live music, and a brewery too! I ordered the orange chicken cabob and wowza, so spicy! All of the food in Texas seems to have some kick to it, but it’s delicious!
We also went to the Truck Yard, in the Colony. Another super cool place with live music, ax throwing, food trucks, and more. We enjoyed the beautiful weather by visiting a lot of outdoor bars and restaurants on our trip!
Top Golf in Dallas was amazing. You’re in a climate controlled bay, with food and beverage service, and you golf using a simulated gaming system. But, you’re actually hitting the balls into an open course! Pretty cool!
When we weren’t out and about, we were lucky to enjoy our friend’s beautiful home with their incredible outdoor space in an equestrian neighborhood! They have two horses, and I rode one. Sorry, no pics/video of THAT! lol
My husband and I are so grateful that we could visit with our friends in an incredible state, and we can’t wait to go back and experience more! One thing that I did this time around on my vacation, that I don’t normally do; I unplugged. Other than peaking at my phone a few times to be sure I didn’t have any important messages from my mom about our dog, I didn’t check or post on social media and I didn’t look at the news. I was just enjoying my experience with our good friends and my hubby, and I’m so glad I did that. It’s nice to get a break once in a while and just, be.
