ENDURING FAMILIES PROJECT – LOCAL HISTORY OF EARLY AFRICAN AMERICAN SETTLERS

Written by on January 18, 2021

The Enduring Families Project‘s focus is to create a more inclusive history by highlighting the local history of African-Americans and other non-white settlers. They’re sponsored by the La Crosse County Historical Society and will be part of the Viterbo MLK Day of Service, Learning and Celebration. There will be activities throughout the day, culminating with the MLK Program in the evening. One of the afternoon sessions will be the Enduring Families Project, at 3:30, and what significance La Crosse Black History has in this community. We spoke with co-founder Denise Christy Moss for more info on their project and we can expect on their virtual panel this afternoon:

The Enduring Families Project produced videos of their historic re-enactments. You can learn more about the videos HERE and watch them below (including Denise as Lillian Davenport)

We helped the Enduring Families Project with aself-guided historic audio tour for Juneteenth last year, too. You can check that out HERE.
