THE Z93 MORNING BUZZ WELCOMES HOME 1967TH CONTRACT TEAM MEMBERS, WI ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Written by on December 8, 2020

I grew up with both of these guys, and I couldn’t be more proud and happy to see them return to the U.S. safely. Master Sergeant, Zach Tevis and Sergeant First Class, Curtis Clements are two of the Contingency Contracting Officers for the 1967th Contract Team for the Wisconsin Army National Guard based at Camp Douglas, WI. They recently completed a mission to the Horn of Africa, where they spent the past 11 months. They’re back on U.S. soil, and Ballzer and I wanted to welcome them home!

According to an article from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, “the specialized team, which is headquartered in Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, mobilized in January and deployed to Djibouti where it served in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and helped acquire the supplies and equipment necessary for Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa to complete its mission. More than 1,400 Wisconsin National Guard members were mobilized at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic response operating COVID-19 testing sites, running self-isolation facilities, managing logistics, manning a warehouse and distributing critical PPE shipments, and more. More than 700 remain on duty in support of the COVID-19 pandemic in the largest sustained domestic mobilization in the Wisconsin National Guard’s history.”

Zach and Curtis both have families they are looking forward to reuniting with soon, and we thank them both (and their team) for their service and sacrifice.
