CHRISSY TEIGEN WANTS TO ‘NORMALIZE FORMULA’
Written by Ballzer on November 30, 2020
I am not a mother, but I have plenty of friends who have babies and they talk openly about the struggle of breastfeeding. Not everyone is able to breastfeed. Some women really have a difficult time producing milk, and there are some parents who choose to formula feed because it’s what they prefer. Chrissy Teigen wants you to know…that’s ok!
If you follow Chrissy Teigen on social media, you know how open she has always been about her past struggles with fertility, postpartum depression, and most recently, her heartbreaking pregnancy loss at 20 weeks of pregnancy. Over the weekend, Chrissy decided to share her views on breastfeeding and formula feeding. Chrissy’s thread calls for ‘normalizing formula’ because in the end, it’s all about getting nourishment for your baby.
ok I’m gonna say something and you all are definitely gonna make it a thing but here goes: normalize formula.

“normalize breastfeeding” is great. “normalize formula” is great, too! so yeah. that’s all! normalize formula! your baby is gonna be BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, AND OKAY.

I remember pumping my ASS OFF, highest mode, so often, because I didn’t trust milk was going into their mouthes if I breastfed. it drove me mad to the point I could only get an ounce. an ounce!

Definitely a relatable conversation and message. And the responses from these two people were just two examples of exactly why Chrissy brought this up in the first place. If you’ve got time, check out the full thread on Chrissy’s Twitter.
The shaming is ridiculous. One of my best friends continued breast-feeding even though her daughter wasn’t gaining weight and she was spiraling into depression due to pressure from doctor. Took an intervention to help her. Wish we could all do what works for us without shame

Like Molly said, “being a mom is hard enough without being shamed.” You’ve got this, mama!
