Do you ever get the sense that someone is lying to you? Not just little white lies. Let’s be honest, we all tell those. We’re talking the big lies. The lies that can be destructive to your relationships and to you. I’ve learned to listen to my gut. It’s usually right. I came across this article on Popsugar and found it to be very interesting. It talks about dealing with pathological liars and how to deal with them. I sure could have used this advice in some of my past relationships! Oofta!
According to Psych Central: “Pathological lying (PL) is a chronic behavior characterized by the habitual or compulsive telling of lies. While the average person will tell an occasional untruth to avoid getting into trouble or to avoid hurting another person’s feelings (e.g., ‘That dress looks great on you!’), a pathological liar appears to lie for no apparent reason or personal gain.”
The article also suggested some signs to watch for including; stress signals, watching their eyes, keeping track of their contradictions, listening to the pitch of their voice, and watching their body language. Check out the full article here. Maybe this can save you from some heart break, or at very least save you from wasted time with toxic people!
