Bringing the 80s Back!

Ok, 2020 has been the WORST year. We are living in a pandemic (I’m starting to call it “the pandy” to try to make it sound less depressing), protests are raging all over the country, and there are no sports. And since we won’t have Oktoberfest until 2021, I’d be fine fast-forwarding through the rest of this year.
One of the few silver linings of 2020 has been the music. Artists have released a lot of dope music this year! 80’s sounding music has been the move so far… lots of synths, Phil Collins-type over the top drum beats, and lots of saxophone. I can get on board with all that! Between Doja Cat, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga, 2020’s music has a very 1980’s sound.
Let’s look at the Weeknd’s latest album, After Hours. It features some heavy drums and awesome synth, but also an amazing sax solo reminiscent of only the best Huey Lewis songs from 1983.
I haven’t loved every pop music trend over the years, but 2020 got this one right! When in doubt, grab a saxophone and go back to the 80’s!
