HOLMEN HIGH SCHOOL PLANS TO TAKE DOWN IN MEMORIAM WALL

Holmen High School is remodeling and expanding right now and construction is sparking change. In a letter from the district, heavily shared on social media, they state that they plan to take down the wall “currently holding plaques and pictures in memory of students and staff who passed away” and give those plaques to the families.
The letter added, “While the District wants to support students and staff who are grieving a loss, memorials can be an ongoing reminder of a traumatic event.”
There is currently a Change.org petition to the school and school board asking them to relocate the plaques.
We had a lot of calls on this today but one that stood out was this caller. Her little sister Mia Stollenwerk has been featured on this wall and her mother received a copy of this letter:
