GRANDMA IDA TURNS 96
Written by Ballzer on June 16, 2017
My grandma Ida turns 96 years old today. She is the most amazing woman. Grandma worked at JC Penny for 51 years. She still lives alone at home but my mom helps her out with being able to go and do things like play cards, visit her friends, go to church, get her hair done, go grocery shopping, and more.
She has been through a lot of heart break in her life. She lost an infant son to sickness, her husband died in a tragic accident on the same day that she gave birth to my mother (on September 1, 1946), and she lost her granddaughter Kathy and daughter Sharon, both to cancer. So much pain and heartbreak for one person to bear. But she is strong, stubborn, determined, and she is the most caring woman I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. She loves animals, especially dogs. Grandma Ida also has quite the sense of humor. She is one of a kind and I’m lucky enough to call her my grandma!
Here is the phone call from this morning when Ballzer and I called her. Good stuff.
