LOCAL AUTHOR MATTHEW J. HEFTI

Matthew J. Hefti is a Wisconsin-based author and a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan where he served for twelve-years as as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. While enlisted, he earned a BA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing. His acclaimed debut novel, “A Hard and Heavy Thing,” is a bold narrative spanning two wars across three continents that challenges our ideas about sacrifice and courage.

Join the La Crosse Public Library, the UW-La Crosse Murphy Library, and the Weber Center for the Performing Arts as they present an evening with Matthew Hefti as he reads from “A Hard and Heavy Thing,” shares his experience writing this powerful novel after returning home from war.
