WEEK OF JULY 25, 2016
Rebecca Heiam is 22 years old and will continue to attend Bemidji State University at the end of August! She devoted all of her childhood to hockey and was a goalie for 17 years! Unfortunately, she sustained too many head injuries and made the difficult decision to stop playing two years ago. But then she found Disc Golf! Rebecca is in her second year of playing competitive disc golf. She is currently sponsored by one of the main manufacturing companies based out of Sweden, Latitude 64, and has played in more than 30 tournaments in the past two years!
Rebecca travels and competes all around the nation, and recently played in the 2016 Amateur and Junior Disc Golf World Championships in Madison. In the advanced women division, with 40 competitors from around the nation, she secured a 3rd place finish overall and a 1st place finish in the putting competition! Rebecca also finished in 1st place at the first A-tier and National tournament this year, as well as a 2nd place finish at the Glass Blown Open, another A-tier tournament in Kansas.
Rebecca is in pursuit of her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with the hopes of working in Homeland Security or as a Park Ranger in a national forest. This past semester she maintained a 4.0 and made her way on to the President’s List! She has consistently held her spot on the Dean’s List since August of 2012. In her free time she loves to go fishing and take naps. Rebecca is also an amateur photographer and an avid lover of the fine delicacy that is mac and cheese.
