“Community Day” at the Kane Street Community Garden
LA CROSSE, WI, April 13, 2016 – The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse is pleased to announce The Kane Street Community Garden will have a “Community Day” on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 9:00am-1:00pm.
To celebrate Earth Day, and to kick off the growing season, we invite the public to dig into the earth and help prepare and plant the community garden! If the weather stays dry, items to be planted include radishes, beets, lettuce, carrots, spinach, peas, and much more! However, there are several other garden prep projects that need to be done should the weather not cooperate!
We need your help to make the garden grow! Celebrate Earth Day with us at your local Community Garden, located at the corner of Kane and St. Cloud on La Crosse’s north side.
Last year, over 34,000 pounds of produce were harvested from the garden. The Hunger Task Force distributes this to garden recipients on-site and through our Food Recovery Program (80 partner programs that include food pantries and meal sites) which allows us to serve a vast number of those in need in our area.
The Mission of the Hunger Task Force is to eliminate hunger by harvesting community resources and being the voice of the hungry. The agency is located at 1240 Clinton St. in La Crosse, WI. The website is www.lacrossehtf.org. The phone number is 608.793.1002. The Kane Street Community Garden phone number is (608) 386-3319
