Patricia thanks ZCare for some much needed TLC!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Just wanted to send a special thank you to you and Alison Turner (ZCare) for the smiles you helped create in the picture below. Life has been very challenging lately.  My husband and I have just recently separated. I’ve had to find a place to live and to refigure my finances.  I’ve had help from the TLC Center in Holmen with furniture and other necessary items needed for living on your own.  Then I received a call on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 8:15 AM that my Dad is in a lot of pain and dying faster than we thought.  I’d be loosing three days of pay and holiday pay.  I really needed and wanted to see my Dad.  I wanted to be able to spend some time with him before he dies and give him some encouragement to be strong and continue on.  I wanted to be able to tell him face to face how glad I am he is my Dad and how proud of him I am of all his accomplishments in life.  I began calling whoever I could think of for help.  ZCare gave me $80.00 in Kwik Trip gift cards for help with gas to get me there and back. Thanks to everyone’s help, I was given the opportunity to spend precious time with my Dad and Mom.  The trip gave me awesome memories of my Dad and a peace of mind that when he did go I would be better prepared.  Thank you again for giving my family the chance to be together.

Please share this story with everyone.  I would love for the smiles on my families faces to be shared hoping to give others that same feeling.

Anisah Cajacob Benefit

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007
December 2, 2007
12:00 pmto6:00 pm

City Brewing Hospitality Center

1111 3rd St. S., La Crosse

Anisah Cajacob was born deaf on January 4, 2007. Fortunately science and medicine has advanced and it is now possible for Anisah to grow up with the ability to hear and talk, something that we all take for granted.

For this to be possible Anisah would need to receive Cochlear Implants. Cochlear Implants involve surgery to insert a device under the skin behind the ear. Electrodes are attached, providing a pathway to the cochlea within the inner ear. When the implant detects sound, pulses are sent through the auditory nerve to the brain, creating an effect similar to hearing.

Research has proven that the earlier a child with profound hearing loss gets cochlear implants, the better chance they have of developing hearing and speech. With one implant at 9 months Anisah would be able to hear noises or hear a voice talking to her. With two, she would hear nearly as well as you and me, have normal speech and language skills, and could even determine whose voice it is that is speaking to her.

A benefit will be held on December 2, 2007 at the City Brewing Hospitality Center from Noon - 6pm. Food will be provided. Also there will be a cash bar available and a silent auction and raffle.

Checks may be sent to:

US Bank - The Anisah Cajacob Fund, 201 Main St. #201, La Crosse, Wi 54601. Please include the account number in the memo line of your checks. 153459612005.
