McKenna is a 10 year old girl who at a very young age was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder and epilepsy. This has caused McKenna to be non-verbal, have a jeopardized immune system and eat only through a G-tube (feeding tube), She is unable to walk so she uses a wheelchair to get around. McKenna also suffers from developmental delays, a lack of cognitive skills and experiences various types of seizures. McKenna and her older brother Tanner (11) lost their biological father in August of 2014 which was shortly followed by the passing of their step father in January 2015. McKenna's mom Nicole is now the children's sole provider. Now that McKenna has grown and continues to do so, she is 100% wheelchair bound. This makes it very difficult to transport her. A wheelchair accessible vehicle ranges in cost between $30,000 up to $70,000. McKenna's family is holding a benefit on May 7th,2017 at the Onalaska American Legion from 1pm-4pm. The money earned will help cover this cost in hopes that McKenna's mom will be able to purchase a vehicle that will meet McKenna's needs making it easier for her to travel.
