Help Madison in her fight with CMD

Madison was born on 12/9/2010 with Campomelic Dysplasia (CMD) which "is a rare genetic disorder characterized by bowing of the long bones and many other skeletal and extraskeletal features".

At about 6 months to term this condition was discovered through prenatal testing.  As the prognosis for survival during neonatal is only about 5%, her parents were told by doctors and nurses to prepare for the worst.

Against the odds, and with the expertise of specialists at the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI, Madison pulled through. Unfortunately however, those who survive this period are by no means out of the woods.

In her short 4 years, Madison has had no less than 4 major surgeries (and countless pre-op consults) to correct skeltal malformations from her legs/club-feet to her back and curved spine. Her most recent procedure however was met with several complications.

Madison has 3 older brothers and 1 older sister who all live with Madison's father (Matt) in La Crosse, WI while her mother (Kathy) stays with her at the hospital in Madison, WI. Because of this, Kathy is unable to work to support their other children and they are now experiencing difficulties with the everyday needs of a family of 6. Matt's job in town is enough to make immediate ends meet, but only barely, and much less pay their substantial medical bills for all the procedures with many more to come.

To learn more about Madison's condition and to help her family, visit her GoFundMe Page.

Any help you can provide is appreciated more than words can describe!

ZCare Highlights

Divafest 2014

Divafest is an annual event for women ages 21 and up to have a night out on the town with shopping, pampering and entertainment.  Generally it falls on the opening of gun deer hunting season.  A portion of the ticket sales from Divafest goes to the Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.  ZCare matches that amount, and the donation is presented.

Polar Plunge with The Special Olympics 2015

Polar Plunge is an annual event that ZCare donates to.  Proceeds go toward providing opportunities for athletes with special needs.

Light It Up Blue 2015

Light It Up Blue is an annual event to raise awareness and help support those who are affected by Autism in the La Crosse area.  ZCare donates our time to this event annually.  A Z93 Staff member is the emcee for this event each year.

Project Funway 2015

Project Funway is a fashion show at Valley View Mall.  The models are children and adults with special needs.  This creates an opportunity for them to strut their stuff on the runway and have fun.  This event is organized by the Student Occupational Therapy Association from UW-La Crosse.  Z93 and ZCare support this event annually.

Uncorked at Java Vino with the Z93 Morning Buzz

The Z93 Morning Buzz hosts wine tasting events at Java Vino.  They generally occur four times per year.  Java Vino and Z93 donate a portion of the ticket sales to ZCare.

Some events raise money for ZCare to help others, while donations are made from ZCare at other events, benefits and fundraisers.  We are also happy to use the ZCare site as a tool to help promote your benefit, fundraiser or charity drive.  Let us know what is happening in your city, church or school.  If it catches your interest, it will most certainly be interesting to us.  Make sure to check back from time to time to find out what is going on.
