Jesse was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive, grade 4, malignant brain tumor. He has since been put on radiation and pill-form chemo. Join the friends and family of Jesse for a benefit with proceeds going towards Jesse and his family.
Jeremy Ulmen was a self-employed logger who was injured by a falling tree. He suffered many injuries including several broken vertebrae, a traumatic brain injury, several broken ribs and fractures to his scapula. The accident has left Jeremy unemployed along with a the challenges of mounting medical bills and providing for his family. Help support Jeremy and his family by attending the Jeremy Ulmen Benefit. It will be held Saturday, November 14th at Hokah City Hall (Hokah, MN) beginning at noon. The benefit includes:

20 year old college student, Sara Rose Hougum, was murdered in her apartment on March 26, 2012. She was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, classmate and friend who was lost too soon do to violence. Help honor Sarah by joining her friends and family at the Moose Lodge on Saturday November 7th from 5-7PM for a Spaghetti Dinner. Enjoy all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and salad bar for $8 (plus tax). A portion of the proceeds will be given to the La Crosse Police Department K-9 Unit in loving memory of Sara Rose Hougum.
Be part of the 1st annual 3K, 5K Veteran Honor Walk/Run in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. The event will be held Sunday November 8th at the Viroqua VFW Post 3032. Registration begins at noon: $10 for entry, $5 for veterans, children 5 & under are free

The Coulee Region Humane Society will host its annual beer and wine tasting event this Friday, October 30th to help raise funds for the Coulee Region's homeless animals. Cost is $30/ticket if purchased in advance or at the door. A discounted rate of $50 for two tickets is available until 7PM Thursday.

Tyler is a 2012 graduate of Holmen High School. Tyler's dream is to serve his country by becoming part of the U.S. Marine Corpse. Unfortunately, the dream had to be put on hold due to being diagnosed with Hogdkin's Lymphoma after receiving emergency surgery to remove a lymph node. After his diagnosis, Tyler made the decision to take leave from work for treatment and to spend time with family and friends. Tyler is very determined to kick the cancer and make a full recovery to still be able to serve his country. Join the friends and family of Tyler on November 15th for a benefit that will be held from 12PM to 8PM at the Holmen American Legion. Scarlett McKenzie was born on July 27th with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This is a hole in her diaphragm which allowed her abdominal organs into her chest, not allowing her lungs to fully develop. She has since had repair surgery and is doing well..progressing from several breathing tubes to a CPAP. However, it's still a long road to recovery. Scarlett's family is currently challenged with mounting medical bills and costs of transportation. Her father spends his weeks at home in La Crosse to make sure her older brother can make it to school daily, then drives to Rochester every weekend to visit Scarlett and Sarah at Mayo. Any help for Scarlett and her family is greatly appreciated. Help make a difference in our community and in the lives of children by attending this year's VAHA Fun Night Fundraiser. The event will be held on November 14th at the VFW in Viroqua. Proceeds from this year's event will not only help pay off the costs of the new chiller, but will also go towards offsetting the costs to make sure no child is denied the chance to play hockey. Laurie is a single mother who had lost her son, Kyle, to a car accident that left her other son, Clint, with a brain injury, seizure disorder and multiple surgeries. This past May, Clint was diagnosed with nasal cancer that has spread to his neck, throat and bones. Clint has since undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and may possibly need to begin radiation. Laurie frequently drives Clint to and from the clinic. However, having a car with many miles has Laurie concerned that major repairs will soon need to be made. Laurie also suffered a knee injury, which led to her taking family leave to care for Clint 24 hours per day.
A Spaghetti Dinner benefit will be held from 3PM to 9PM at the Centerville Curling Club on October 24th. Tickets are $5 in advance, or $7 the day of. Kids 4 & under are free

Josh Dickman recently had to undergo major back surgery and due to his time away from work for recovery his bills are starting to pile up. Josh also has a newborn daughter at home. There will be a benefit for Josh Dickman on October 24th at 525 St. Cloud Street in La Crosse Wisconsin starting at 11 am.
The friends and family of Derrick Olson are hosting a benefit at the Holmen American Legion, Post #284. on November 8th from 11am to 6pm. Derrick has been challenged with medical issues beginning in April 2015 that have limited his ability to work. We are hosting a benefit to help assist Derrick with living and medical expenses.
Derrick has been a member of the Post #284 Sons of the American Legion for fifteen years and currently serves as the Second Vice President for the organization. Derrick was the bar manager of the Holmen American Legion for over 10 years and previously managed the Onalaska Legion bar for 2 years as well. Currently, Derrick services as the Daytime Manager at Smokey’s Bar & Grill in Holmen.
