REESE WALTERS

WEEK OF MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2018

reesewalters1reesewalters2reesewalters3

Reese is a 5th grader at West Salem Elementary. She plays basketball, volleyball, and soccer. She’s in her first year of Club ball and they just earned their third 1st place finish of the season. She does great in school and has recently been acknowledged by 2 teachers and the guidance counselor for standing up for a fellow student who was getting bullied.

Below is an excerpt from the email we received from her teacher:

I am so happy to share some things that I have noticed from Reese in school. Reese has been exceptionally responsible during class and with her homework.  The main reason that I am emailing you today is because of a situation in the 5th grade that Reese handled with incredible maturity, support, and compassion. One of the girls in fifth grade has been getting picked on daily, making school a negative environment for her. Along with several other students, Reese has been openly standing up against these bullies. This act of standing up for a peer has been noticed by other fifth grade teachers, special education staff, support staff, and our administration. As a fifth grader standing up to your peers is not the easiest thing to do, but some students can do this with ease. By standing up for what she believes in, Reese shows incredible maturity and leadership! It makes me proud to have such mature, compassionate, and strong leaders in my class and I'm excited to see them carry these qualities as they go on to middle school.

That was then...this is now!

I have worked at Z93 for almost 14 years.  I am grateful every day for the career that I have been blessed with!  When I started working at Z93 back in 2004, I was in great shape.  I was 23 years old and I was teaching dance, I enjoyed working out at the gym, and I was very active.  Life changed dramatically when my sole focus became my radio career.  It started with working 3rd shift, which was a major change in my life schedule.  After a couple of years I switched to 2nd shift and four years later, I changed my schedule again to host the morning show in 2007!  That was hard on my body and it seemed to take me a long time to get used to the eating and sleeping habits of each shift change.  Add in some major health problems along the way, and before you know it...I had gained 80 pounds over 13 years.  I'm still not exactly sure how I let that happen, but I did.  I guess it was the simple fact that eating fast food, anything that I could heat up in a microwave or anything fast, was easy for a girl on the go.  I also did my fair share of going out clubbing with friends and enjoying cocktails! :) That leads to eating more bad food and making poor nutrition choices.  It's a vicious cycle.  One that too many of us are far too familiar with, unfortunately.

I suffered a traumatic brain injury in January 2017.  Countless doctor visits for therapy and healing meant getting weighed a lot.  That was the first time I had weighed myself in a long time.  And it was like a punch to the gut each time I got on that scale.  And finally, I had a tough conversation with my doctor about my need to lose some weight in order to be more healthy.  It made me face the truth about where I had ended up.  Deep down I knew it, but when you hear it from a healthcare professional...somehow it becomes real.  It was time to do something major because I had been given a second chance at life.  I couldn't waste another minute...

I joined NuYou Weight Loss and More in February 2017 and in just 9 months I turned my life around.  80 pounds gone and over 80 inches melted away!  The programs at NuYou are incredible and the support is even better.  Before NuYou, nothing worked and I felt very defeated.  I just felt stuck.  Two of my friends showed me that their lives had improved because of NuYou and I wanted to be the next person to change my life.  So, I did!  (see more below)

I look at these pictures from before the weight loss program with NuYou, and I honestly have a hard time believing that these are pictures of ME.  I feel a lot of emotions.  Sadness, embarrassment, anger, but most of all...I feel free.  Thanks to NuYou Weight Loss and More, I'm not that person anymore.  I'm no longer unhealthy.  I'm stronger, I'm confident, I'm happy, I feel sexy, and most importantly...I am HEALTHY!  My only wish is that I would have done this sooner.  I can't get back the time that I wasted, but I can move forward knowing that I made the best decision for myself, my husband, and my family.

I firmly believe that it doesn't matter what size you are.  If YOU are comfortable with who you are and YOU feel healthy, and YOU are at peace with yourself, more power to you! I was not at peace with myself...but I am now.

UNITED WAY

Mike, Mary, Dani, and Adrianne from Great Rivers United Way stopped by this morning to talk about the importance of giving to the United Way campaign.  Last year, gifts to the United Way touched more than 111,000 lives.  Four out of ten Coulee Region residents are on the verge of falling below the Federal Poverty Line.  They are one unexpected bill or emergency away from financial disaster.  The need here is great, but so is the generosity. Even $1.00 a week can make a huge difference!

The Struggle is Real

I have struggled with my weight for the past 10 years.  The scale kept going up and I kept pretending that it didn't bother me.  I was having fun.  I was eating whatever I wanted.  I was having as many cocktails as I wanted.  My clothes kept getting tighter and I was forced to buy bigger sizes.  It bothered me, but I just kept pushing it off to the side and I would find outfits that would hide the parts of me that I disliked the most.  In pictures, I would often think to myself...that doesn't even look like me.  But for some reason, it still didn't register.  Sure, I tried a few diets over the years.  I tried cutting out carbs and had some luck temporarily.  But then I looked at a french fry, and I gained it all back and then more on top of that!  It was out of control.

I had pretty much given up on dating because I had dated all of the wrong guys who treated me poorly.  I finally found Mr. Awesome in October of 2015.  At my heaviest weight, this amazing man wanted me.  How was that possible?  He thought I was beautiful, even though I wasn't skinny like I used to be.  So, of course...that did not help with my motivation.  I was fat and happy in love.  Or so I thought.  While looking at my friend's profiles on Facebook, I had seen a couple of them transition into healthier bodies with the help of NuYou Weight Loss and More in Onalaska.  So I started asking questions and in November of 2016, I went in for a free consultation.  They told me everything about the program.  The cost, how it would go, my commitment, etc.  I left the clinic and I did not sign up that day.  I wasn't ready to commit.

January 21, 2017 Mr. Awesome proposed to me and made me the happiest woman on the planet.  But within 12 hours that would all change.  The next morning, I fell backwards off of the stage at Wedding World and I suffered a traumatic brain injury.  As you know, I lived!  It was a miracle.  Although there was intense therapy, difficult healing procedures, and I'm still recovering...I'm alive.  That day, everything changed.  My outlook on life and how I viewed it.  I was not healthy.  I was too over weight and I was unhappy.  Once I was cleared by doctors to start a weight loss program, it was time to start.  I went back to NuYou in February 2017 and started the program on February 28th.  I knew it wasn't going to be easy.  I knew it was going to take will power and dedication.  But I knew that after what I had suffered through with my accident, I could handle anything.

I started with the NuYou Fast 1000 program, did the NuYou Fast 800 program and also tried the NuYou Pronto program.  The journey has not been easy, but it has been worth every dollar I've spent and every decision I've made to make healthier choices to get to a better me.  I'm a brand new person.  As of October 27, 2017 I lost 80 pounds and over 80 inches.  I'm healthy, happy, and I love shopping for clothes.  No more size 18 pants and XXL shirts.  I'm now wearing a size 8/10 pants and a Medium size shirt.  It feels amazing and now I'm happy and most importantly, I'm healthy!  It's your turn to start the next chapter.  Click here!
