Z93's ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
WEEK OF JULY 24, 2017
Maria will be a Junior at Caledonia High School. She is involved in track, holds down an early morning job of milking cows for her neighbor, and is skilled in horse back riding. Most days she's training her horse, Cinchy, for speed events and other classes that showcase their partnership. Her peers and adults have recognized her as the 2017 Triple R Saddle Club Queen. She attends horse shows in the South East Minnesota Show Association and represents our area. How many other athletes have a 1100 lb partner with attitude and speed?!
WEEK OF JULY 17, 2017
Madalyn will be a fourth grader at Emerson this fall. She has danced since she was two years old. Madalyn currently dances at the Y and La Crosse Dance Center, in the areas of Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, and Tap. Madalyn is also part of the Youth Kinetic Company at La Crosse Dance Center and will be dancing in her second Nutcracker performance this year, in the role of Soldier. Madalyn is also a Junior in Girl Scouts and is involved in the summer school drama production of Cinderella, playing the role of Fairy Godmother. This summer Madalyn is starting to play Cello and is taking Voice lessons for the first time. She is an amazing student and is in an advanced math group at her school.
WEEK OF JULY 3, 2017
Emily just finished 5th grade at Southern Bluffs Elementary. She has been on the Wizards jump rope team for three years. Emily has been in Girl Scouts for 5 years and is currently working towards her Bronze award. She loves volleyball and has major skills in basketball. Emily has tried seasons in track, tennis, and gymnastics. She has dabbled in theatre productions and plays the viola. She gives back to her community by participating in the Polar Plunge (for the past four years) and Jump rope for Heart. Emily's expertise however is in Karate. She has been training at TASK Karate since she was four years old and is expected to earn her black belt in October, just a few days after she turns twelve!
WEEK OF JUNE 26, 2017
Ava will be a 7th grader this fall at Holmen Middle School.
She plays soccer in the spring, fall, summer, and plays indoors during the winter.
She was on high honor roll all 4 terms of her 6th grade year.
She loves to be outside, hang out with her friends, go to her cabin and be on the water.
WEEK OF JUNE 19, 2017
Carter is 8 years old and just finished his 2nd grade year at Holmen Prairie View Elementary School. His hobbies include but certainly not limited to drawing, reading, baseball, basketball and football. Carter has many talents related to the field and the court but in the classroom he excels at drawing and reading. Carter shows patience and passion in everything that he does and his family and friends can’t wait to see what he will come up with next. In addition to all of his many talents at this young age, he is a wonderful big brother to Jase.

Clara will be a Freshman in the 2017-18 school year at Bangor High School. She was named Female Athlete of the Year for the Middle School Track Team. Clara also plays Volleyball and Basketball, and will be filling her summer with
2 basketball leagues and a volleyball league. Clara is also a 4.0 Student, and is involved with many other groups and organizations.
WEEK OF JUNE 5, 2017
Kayla is a Junior, and 1st baseman on the Cochrane-Fountain City High School softball team. They won the Dairyland Conference and Regional Championships, and finished runner-up at Sectionals. She had a .478 batting average, leading the team in RBIs and hits. Kayla has also been starting setter for the C-FC Volleyball Team for the past three years. The team has won 9 consecutive Dairyland Conference titles. For her efforts, she was named 1st team All Conference for both sports this year. Kayla is also a member of the National Honor Society, maintains a 4.0 GPA, and is an officer in her school’s FFA Chapter. This school year she created and directed a backpack meal program for her school district, which provides weekend meals for families in need. She also volunteers for the Winona Area Humane Society.

Sydney is a 7th grader at Holmen Middle School. She is a High Honor Role student and gets straight A's.
Sydney is in choir, she plays basketball, soccer year round, participates in track, and plays tennis.
She stays active in her free time, works out every night, and loves hanging out with her friends.
WEEK OF MAY 22, 2017
Trevor is an 8th grader at De Soto Middle School. He gets awesome grades and has a 3.85 GPA. Trevor helps other students with their homework and is involved in the student council. He enjoys donating his time to help out in his community with putting things together for cancer benefits, fund raisers, and other events. Trevor plays football, basketball, and baseball. He also wrestles and participates in track. Trevor is a very accomplished trumpet player for his age and he also sings in the choir. He is a leader for the rest of his classmates and he's a bit of a clown. Here is a younger picture of Trevor. He was born with only 3 digits on his right hand, but it doesn’t hold him back!
WEEK OF MAY 15, 2017
Linzy Sendelbach is a freshman at Arcadia High School. She is a varsity starter in all 3 of her sports: volleyball, basketball, and softball. She also maintains a 4.0 GPA and is top of her class by taking advanced placement classes.
During the summer she takes part in basketball and softball leagues and helps out her dad with his construction company. She hopes to go into Engineering at UW Madison once she graduates.
WEEK OF MAY 8, 2017
Lexi is a senior at La Crescent High School. She is currently a Level 9 gymnast at the La Crosse YMCA, and was the State Champion this year on vault, beam, floor, and all-around. She will be competing in the National Gymnastics Championships in Savannah, GA this summer. Lexi is the co-captain of the LaCrescent High School Color Guard, plays flute for the La Crescent band, and she competed at State Forensics this year. Aside from school activities and coaching gymnastics, Lexi manages to maintain a 3.9+ GPA and has been taking a few college classes over the past couple of years. Lexi has been accepted to the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, and plans to pursue a degree in nursing.

Austin is a 7th grader from Caledonia Middle School. He is an honor student with a 4.0 and loves math class! Austin plays soccer for the Rush Wisconsin West Soccer Club in La Crosse. He was 1 out of 21 players, in the country, selected to play on the Rush Select National U13 Team. He recently traveled to Italy to play against the top soccer clubs in Italy.

Kaitlyn Gilbertson is a junior at Black River Falls. Softball is her sport! When she's not playing softball, she's active in marching and concert band, playing the flute. She also competes in solo and Ensemble with flute and competes in singing.
Kaitlyn is very active with her church with the high school choir and is a Peer Minister. She's on the Honor Roll, was February's Student of the Month, and even has a part time job!
