The Shift made their debut in the Rochester, MN music scene earlier in 2015... and with stunning reviews. So how would one describe the sound of The Shift? Well... Beatle-esque harmonies, brilliantly intricate guitars and unforgettable melodies. The Shift reawakens a compelling essence of 60s pop music, and are looking to take their unique music mix to a much broader audience.

After a national tour while signed with Capitol Records, Travis (Guitars/Vocals) and Taylor (Drums), met up with a veteran of the Olympia music scene, Daniel (Bass/Vocals), and Rochester native, Cole (Guitar/Vocals). What emerged was a beautiful coincidence of chemistry, passionate song writing and fun-loving energy that is now known as The Shift.

The band is currently doing studio work for their first album that is scheduled for release in early 2016.

We've had rappers on Local Love, and we've had acoustic artists on Local Love.. But for the 1st time, Local Love will be featuring an acoustic artist/rapper duo! Meet Briggsy and Pelly. Briggsy is an acoustic singer/songwriter from Cottage Grove, MN, who has been singing and playing guitar since he was 12. Most of his music is inspired by artists like Mumford and Sons, Lumineers, Walk the Moon, Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz. Briggsy used music as a release when he was younger, and used it to express and create happy memories.

Pelly is a rapper from Winona, MN, who, much like Briggsy, is all about the music....The soul of it, the inspiration, the meaning, the out reach, the influence, the picture it paints and the scenes it creates. Pelly loves and appreciates all genre's of music for what they are, but hip hop is where he's found his fire. Briggsy and Pelly met at Acoustic Cafe in downtown Winona and immediately collaborated to create their single "Here I Go".. which has received over 2,500 plays on Soundcloud and Spotify!

Neon. Is. Back! In May of 2007, two 6th graders at Lincoln Middle School wanted to make music. Nick Maas and Matthew Clark were drawn together over their passion for music that many their age were not interested in. They grew up listening to what many consider to be oldies, but to them, that was the music they loved. The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young were on constant rotation in their early years. With Nick on guitar and lead vocals, Matthew on guitar and backing vocals, and classmate Theo Pupillo on bass, the group had been formed. In years to come, drummers would come and go, but Neon was always Nick, Matt, and Theo. Since their formation, they have been constantly writing, recording and playing gigs (108 to be exact) around the region. They’ve played local venues such as the Root Note and The Warehouse regularly, but have also played twice at Summerfest in Milwaukee. 2010 marked the release of their debut album If It Was, and their five track EP entitled Electric Thoughts followed in 2013. Neon’s music has been compared to bands such as Oasis, The Replacements and Teenage Fanclub to older groups like The Beach Boys, The Who and The Zombies. Following their performance at Midwest Music Fest in Winona last spring, Neon received high praise from Twin Cities radio station The Current and news publication City Pages. Andrea Swensson, a DJ at The Current, said that they had an “undeniable spark that set them apart from so many other bands.” The summer only got better for Neon as they went onto play at FreedomFest in June of 2013 with Chicago. The band was more than honored to play such an important local event in front of so many kind people. Since their graduation from Central High School, the three have moved out of La Crosse. Nick attends UW-Milwaukee, Matthew goes to UW-River falls, and Theo works in Minneapolis. For live performances, Jaran Carson joins Neon behind the drums. The band strives to deliver a set filled with original tracks written by the songwriting duo of Nick Maas and Matthew Clark. Catch Neon THIS Saturday night (11/14) for their reunion show!
