Welcome to 2016! Here we are in a new year, and with that comes more great local music! This week in Local Love, we'll be breaking out some Post-Punk from The Phantom Dream. Is it weird to say that I'm the bassist of this band? The Phantom Dream itself has been a "floating idea" since around 2008, but never really caught traction until 2011. Battling several lineup changes since then, The Phantom Dream has since released a 5-track EP in 2013 titled "Gadfly". A full length album is currently in the works. "13 Charms for Good Luck" is expected to be fully pressed and ready for release by late summer of 2016. Tune in to Local Love this Thursday to get an exclusive listen to a track from the full length!

In early 2013, twin brothers Hugh and Andrew got together with friend, Matt, to create an instrumental indie-rock band. The trio later became known as Midwest Voltage. Their fresh, new sound of explosive rock mixed with spacey riffs is what has really set Midwest Voltage apart from most bands out of La Crosse, WI. The trio draws their inspiration from early 1990s rock and post punk.

In the summer of 2015, Midwest Voltage released their self-produced EP, 'DEMO'. Since then, their popularity has begun to grow along with the demand for more of their music. Midwest Voltage has played numerous clubs and bars along with music festivals in Western Wisconsin...they are a must-see band. Check them out!....You will not be disappointed.
